Joining Bray St. halfway across the globe

Young australian family

Reconnecting with my old friend and colleague Daniel Dagher, after over a decade apart, was more than just a casual reunion.

As the Founder and Client Director of Bray St. Brand Agency, Daniel told me about all the exciting things going on at the agency, and it immediately caught my attention. Before I knew it, that friendly catch-up quickly turned into an essential opportunity that has helped me plant my feet and settle my family and I into a new country, after taking a leap, packing up our lives in Melbourne to well…’live more’…in London.

Melbourne moves you…

I’ve spent most of my marketing career in Melbourne, Australia, working with amazing sports, destination, and entertainment brands, like Tennis Australia, Visit Victoria and Melbourne Cricket Club. And I loved every minute of it. The inspiration of major sporting events, the variety of work, and the buzz of leading teams to achieve new heights made me feel like I was impacting my community and the world. It gave me purpose.

But deep down, I’ve always had a burning desire to experience life on the other side of the world. When the pandemic hit, it put everything into perspective for me.

Early this year my husband received a transfer and as a ‘travelling spouse’, I moved to London, with a toddler in tow. I could finally follow the international path which I’ve aspired to for so long.

When Danny asked me to work with some of the world’s most exciting purpose-driven brands as a Project Manager – I jumped at the opportunity.

The joys of true flexibility

I land in London and I’m shaking with excitement and angst. Excited at the opportunities and the new adventure I’m on, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried about getting settled here. Over the next few months I met with some great connections who really help me find my feet.

The role at Bray St. was not only purposeful for me but was flexible too. Which is exactly what I needed with a 2-year-old in a new country. Not only do I get to work with (and learn from) forward-thinking, sustainable clients, but I can also set my own schedule and work wherever I want. It eased the pressure from drop-off, pick-ups, dinner and bedtime routines. Things that would usually take military-like planning to get right were now far less stressful. This decentralised model was perfect for me as a working Mum, and it made settling into my new life in England so much easier. And of course, it offered me the flexibility to travel again – because how can you not, when you are this close to Europe?!

The Bray St. effect

Today, I aim to bring value to the world through Bray St. and our clients, bringing new ideas, a decade of experience and creativity to every project I work on. At Bray St., we focus on working with brands that aim to make a real difference. Something that has always been a passion of mine.  One week I'm managing website builds, and the next I’m building creative brand strategies. There’s never a dull moment here. And that’s what makes working here vibrant and fulfilling.

In the last 15 years I’ve learnt from great leaders and talent and been a part of some fantastic projects. But most importantly, I’ve built strong relationships with people I can honestly call life-long friends. And you can’t ask for much more than that.
